It’s time for our tradition! This is #12. It's always a lot of fun. A great chance to reconnect with others who went to USF (or College of St. Francis). A chance for students, to connect with alumni to talk about the interview and resume process for those who are looking for programming or IT jobs and internships.
We look to alumni to share their experiences because we value their expertise.

| From last year's event |
Of course there will also be time to meet and chat with everyone. You can look forward to another fun evening.
We
also have a special reason to gather this year. We’re bidding farewell
to St. AL’s.
The
wrecking ball should have at it after commencement this year. Everyone
who took computer courses has spent a lot of blood, sweat, and tears in these
halls so let’s say good-bye before he’s gone.
This
is an informal discussion, a sharing of insights and tips, so we'll provide
some snacks and beverages.
We
would really like to have you join us to share your knowledge. Because of the
informal nature of the program, please consider dropping in even if you can't
make it right at 6:30 PM or if you have to leave early.
We'll
announce our Meritorious Service Award Winner, and the newest members of the
Epsilon Delta Pi Honor Society. We’ll have our Senior Project Team
give you some hints as to what’s up with them.
Our
USF Computer Club will tell you what they’ve been up to and they may bring
along the Oculus Rift they purchased so our alumni can have a VR experience.
Our thanks to the Alumni Association and the USF Computer Club for their support for this event.

Lots of treats and little tricks.
To get in the mood for a Halloween celebration, the USF Computer Club hosted an open membership meeting on Oct 29 at 5:30 PM followed by the VR Halloween party.
The club membership discussed upcoming events and plans then moved onto the important agenda item, pizza, soft drinks and VR.
Everyone had a chance to try out a game donated by Anthony Derusha, club president, IT 2019. The evening was a great success. And future VR events will be planned.

Pizza, Popcorn, Movie!
In our stadium seating setting, a group of technology fans watched the screening of Ready Player One in all its Blu-ray splendor. As we approach a world where VR is becoming more prevalent, what awaits us?
Ready Player One offered one possibility.
USF Computer Club - Involved!
The 2018 Student Involvement Fair was hosted on the quad on Wednesday, Sept 5, from 11 AM to 1 PM. Anthony Derusha, IT, 2019, and Computer Club president, manned our shared table with AfterMath Brendan Miller, Math, 2019, CS minor and AfterMath president. We will also cohost a Gaming night on Nov 7th with AfterMath.
A Hard Drive Erasing service is being offered on Oct 3rd, 3 - 5 PM in A102, St Albert Hall. This is our green event and our service event, as we will educate people on what occurs during the erasing of a drive and how this enables them to recycle their machines safely.
Having some fun with the photographer at the Involvement Fair

Two 3-D printing events are planned. On Oct 23 - How to design an object for 3D printing. On Nov 13th - How to use the 3D printer.

The Fun Before the Storm (of Finals)

Pizza, frisbee, bean bag toss, day-glo football and even chess made for a fun afternoon to finish off the last day of classes and relax heading into finals on Friday afternoon, April 27th at the Quad Pavilion. That's what Mathematics and Computer Science Department Picnic was about!

The event was sponsored by Aftermath and USF Computer Club (the Byte-ing Saints?) our two student organizations, but the majority of the thanks goes to Dr. Angela Antonou for her fantastic work on getting everything together for a truly fun afternoon.

Awards were handed out (including a few gift cards) for students whose service to the department went above and beyond. Tee-shirts for the USF Computer Club were the fashion must have. Kudos on the design to Brett Pluth (Web Dev). A number of humorous acknowledgements were made for students and teachers.
To top it off the weather cooperated and didn't turn to rain until after our picnic wound down.
Don't miss our annual event at the end of each Spring semester.
