April 26, 2016
We had a wonderful turnout for our annual alumni/student meeting. 18 alumns, and our retired chair, Loretta Pearson, came out. Approximately 20 students had the opportunity to polish their resumes, learn how to address the questions they will face during an interview, and meet and network with both recent alumns and those who’ve been out a few years.
Lauren Burkhart (CS) was inducted into the Epsilon Delta Pi Honor Society. We updated our alumni on what’s going on, including our involvement in the new Cyber Crime Minor housed in the Criminal and Social Justice department, updates to the server in our majors' lab, and, new this academic year, our 3D printer.
Of course there was plenty of time for informal discussion between alumni to catch up and meet some folks they hadn’t met before.
If you couldn’t make it this year, don’t worry we plan to be back next year.

Fighting Saints 2.0
Six University of St. Francis
students from Computer Science, Information Technology, and Web Application Development built an updated version of the USF Fighting Saints App. The new mobile app features a new interface,
added security, and all sports are now represented.
The logon screen changes each month to showcase a different sport. You may logon using any of your existing logons from applications such as Google, Facebook, Amazon, Twitter, or Microsoft. Verification is done with the provider you choose, no logon information is stored in the app.
You can find
roster information about all players, current stories, the gym schedule, and
the calendar of sports events.
Members of
the Senior Project team: Nayeli Aceves (IT),
Dan Burke (CS), Jordan Drane (WD), Zach Hunter (CS), and Michelle Stefanich (IT) were joined by Nick
Bond (CS), who was working on a directed study, to produce the professional looking
app that is available on Google Play and the iTunes App stores.

Helping out – Eighth Annual Alumni/Student Resume-Interview Tips
On April 14, 2015, a number of
our alumni from the various Computer Science majors returned to campus to lend a
helping hand to our current undergrads at our Eighth Annual Student-Alumni Interview and Resume Tips meeting.
Over the years we’ve compiled the suggestions from alumni and after a
brief review, students brought out their resumes and got personalized attention
from our alumni on how to improve their resumes.

Thanks to Alumni
Relations for the gifts for our alumni.
To help keep
our alumni in touch with what’s happening we talked about plans for then
department, new classes and projects. Certificates were given to students who over
the past year have been supporting the USF Sustainability Website, Daniel
Burke, Jordan Drane, Wembo Mbiziwo-Tiapo, and Joselyn Mena.
